Chromacity 1040

A reliable 1040 nm femtosecond laser for two-photon microscopy

The Chromacity 1040 is a fixed wavelength femtosecond laser source that delivers ultrashort pulses with high average powers in the near-IR.

Our fiber-based femtosecond laser source allows us to exploit the well-known advantages of Yb-doped fibers as gain media, while delivering high quality and high power ultrashort pulses.

The 1040 nm femtosecond laser is ideal for multiphoton excitation (MPE) by coupling into microscope systems, empowering users to produce clear and high-resolution images, as a result of its excellent beam quality, ultrafast pulses and high average power levels. Learn how the femtosecond laser source is ideal for two-photon microscopy.

The Chromacity 1040 is engineered with a custom-designed and temperature-controlled baseplate, providing an unprecedented level of ruggedness and reliability for this type of laser architecture.

The Chromacity 1040 is the next generation in femtosecond laser systems, which no longer need hours in set up time. The light emitted from the Chromacity 1040 originates from a single mode fiber, ensuring superior beam quality. Our laser source does not require water cooling and comes with a simple user interface, making it one of the easiest laser sources to operate.

Customer Feedback

“The purchase and installation of our Chromacity 1040 femtosecond laser system has been incredibly streamlined process. The sales team were very helpful throughout, keeping me up to date with instrument lead times. I was shocked that there was no engineer installation required, the laser arrived and after brief parameter checking after set up was ready to use. I find the software incredibly intuitive and the fact I can operate it from my phone without having to dedicate a whole computer system a real plus. The portability allows me to move the system around the University depending on the study being carried out. I would highly recommend Chromacity and look forward to pushing our theranostic nanotechnologies further with our new system”. – Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Technology Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde

“Chromacity has actively supported my research which recently led to the characterisation of polarisation entanglement at 2 µm. For this research, we employed the Chromacity 1040 laser. This system ran non-stop and with no issues throughout the 6 month experimental campaign. I found the laser interface to be very neat and straightforward to use. The Chromacity 1040 has had fantastic reliability which was precisely what we needed to obtain our measurements. I would whole-heartedly recommend this laser, and I am planning to get a new one!”
– School of Engineering, University of Glasgow

“The Chromacity 1040 is a fantastic turn-key system that takes up a surprisingly small footprint on the optical bench. Our amplified system comes with built-in pulse compression, making it an ideal source for nonlinear optics. After a decade of working with Ti:sapphire lasers, having such a reliable femtosecond laser in the lab is a delight”.

“The Chromacity 1040 laser is an important part of the additive manufacturing setup, based on 2-photon polymerization. It already allows us to fabricate 3D micro-optical elements using photocurable polymers. Now we can do it on coverglass substrates.”
 –  Aston University

“We have used the Chromacity-1040 at several multiphoton microscopy workshops and courses. We particularly value the robustness and ease-of-use of the system. Our ability to set the laser up without the need for training beyond a brief phone call gave us a lot of flexibility when supporting these workshops.”
